AI & Automation Strategist

Client Strategy and Delivery

Location: Remote

Engagement: Flexible role structure with potential for full-time employment

About Ampra

Ampra helps established SMBs adopt AI and automation in practical, human-centered ways. Many of our clients are founder-led professional services firms and operating teams that rely on manual, repetitive workflows across sales, operations, client service, reporting, marketing, admin, and internal coordination.

We help teams save time, eliminate bottlenecks, improve quality, and free people up for higher-value, more fulfilling work. We are not here to chase AI hype or add complexity. We build useful systems that fit the way real businesses actually operate.

Our Fractional AI and Automation Support model pairs an AI Strategist with an AI & Automation Architect. The Strategist leads the client relationship, strategy, discovery, prioritization, workflow mapping, and adoption. The Architect joins every session as the builder who turns that strategy into working systems.

The Role

The AI & Automation Strategist owns client strategy, trust, and value realization. You will lead business conversations with owners, executives, and operating teams, identify the right AI and automation opportunities, prioritize what should be built, and keep delivery moving between sessions.

This is a client-facing strategy and delivery role for someone who can facilitate a room, spot operational bottlenecks, translate business goals into buildable initiatives, and keep clients engaged because meaningful work is getting done.

You do not need to be the deepest technical builder, but you do need enough AI and automation fluency to understand what is possible, explain tradeoffs, evaluate ideas clearly, and give the Architect the context they need to build the right thing.

What You’ll Own

  • Lead recurring client sessions with business owners, executives, and operating teams

  • Run discovery, workflow mapping, prioritization, and initiative planning

  • Identify AI, automation, workflow, and enablement opportunities that can create real business value

  • Turn broad client conversations into clear build briefs, acceptance criteria, and next actions for the Architect

  • Partner with the Architect to keep builds scoped, useful, adopted, and improved over time

  • Keep clients engaged between sessions by tracking initiatives, follow-ups, decisions, blockers, and delivered value

  • Own account health, session cadence, client satisfaction, and the case for additional support when needed

  • Flag scope creep, margin risk, unclear ownership, and accounts that need escalation

  • Maintain clean internal records, including current stage, next action, owner, status, links, and notes

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years in client-facing strategy, consulting, operations, technology implementation, account leadership, business transformation, or a related role

  • 2+ years working with AI, automation, workflow tools, digital transformation, or technology-enabled operations

  • Strong business judgment and the ability to speak credibly with owners, executives, and senior operators

  • Ability to ask sharp questions, uncover root causes, and separate interesting ideas from initiatives that will actually move the business

  • Enough hands-on fluency with tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Zapier, Make, n8n, Airtable, HubSpot, Google Workspace, or similar systems to guide practical work

  • Strong written communication and the ability to create clear briefs, summaries, client updates, and internal handoffs

  • High client empathy and the ability to make clients feel heard, guided, and confident

  • At least six hours of weekday overlap with US Pacific time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a founder, operator, consultant, fractional leader, agency leader, RevOps leader, implementation lead, or strategic account lead

  • Experience working with established SMBs, professional services firms, or founder-led teams

  • Experience managing recurring client engagements or multi-client portfolios

  • Familiarity with n8n, Zapier, Make, OpenAI, Claude, Google Workspace, ClickUp, HubSpot, Airtable, Jotform, GHL, Clay, or similar tools

  • Experience creating training, enablement, SOPs, client-facing summaries, or change-management materials

Values Fit

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Like being genuinely helpful and making things easier for clients and teammates

  • Build trust through clear communication, follow-through, and transparency

  • Look for smarter, simpler ways to improve systems and outcomes

  • Stay curious about new tools, but grounded in what actually works

  • Think like a builder, even when your primary role is strategy

  • Take the work seriously without taking yourself too seriously

Success Looks Like

  • Clients attend sessions, stay engaged, and understand the value being created

  • High-value initiatives move from discovery to scoped build to shipped outcome

  • Architects receive clear briefs, context, acceptance criteria, and business rationale

  • Clients see useful progress within days, not weeks

  • Follow-ups, decisions, and next actions are captured and completed on time

  • Scope creep is caught early and additional support is surfaced when appropriate

  • Clients feel guided, understood, and confident that Ampra is helping them modernize the right parts of the business

  • Internal records are clear enough that another team member can understand account status quickly

Assessment and Engagement Notes

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a paid working session where they lead a test FlexFlow-style conversation, identify opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and brief the Architect on what should be built.

This role may begin as a flexible engagement depending on location, availability, and business needs, with the potential to grow into a full-time role over time.
