AI & Automation Strategist
Client Strategy and Delivery | Job Description
Location: Remote | Engagement: Contractor path with potential for full-time
About Ampra
Ampra helps established small businesses use AI and automation without adding complexity. We work shoulder-to-shoulder with owners, leadership teams, and operators to turn messy workflows into simple, scalable systems that create visible momentum.
Our FlexFlow model pairs strategic client leadership with hands-on implementation. The Client Lead owns the business conversation, the client relationship, and the delivery rhythm. The AI and Automation Architect owns deeper technical implementation, build quality, and production reliability.
The Role
The Client Lead, AI & Automation is the primary owner of client strategy, trust, and value realization. This person leads high-level business conversations with owners and leadership teams, identifies the right AI and automation opportunities, prioritizes what should be built, and keeps delivery moving between sessions.
This role requires strong business acumen, clear communication, and enough hands-on AI and automation fluency to know what is possible, pressure-test technical ideas, and tee up the AI and Automation Architect with the right context. The best candidate can facilitate a room, spot operational bottlenecks, translate business goals into buildable initiatives, and keep clients engaged because value is being delivered.
What You Will Own
Lead FlexFlow sessions with business owners, executives, and operating teams.
Run strategic discovery, process mapping, prioritization, and initiative planning across each client account.
Identify the AI, automation, workflow, and enablement opportunities most likely to create measurable business value.
Convert broad client conversations into clear build briefs, acceptance criteria, and next actions for the AI and Automation Architect.
Keep clients engaged and confident between sessions by tracking initiatives, follow-ups, decisions, blockers, and delivered value.
Partner with Architects to make sure builds are scoped correctly, delivered on time, adopted by the client team, and improved after feedback.
Own account health, session cadence, client satisfaction, and the strategic case for additional sessions, tier upgrades, or project work.
Flag scope creep, margin risk, unclear ownership, and accounts that need escalation or a commercial reset.
Maintain clean internal records in ClickUp, including current stage, next action, owner, status, links, and notes.
You Are Ideal for This Role If You
Have strong business judgment and can speak credibly with owners, executives, and senior operators.
Can ask sharp questions, uncover root causes, and separate interesting AI ideas from initiatives that will move the business.
Understand AI, automation, and modern workflow tools well enough to explain possibilities, constraints, tradeoffs, and implementation paths clearly.
Have enough hands-on capability with tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Zapier, Make.com, n8n, Airtable, HubSpot, Google Workspace, or similar systems to prototype, inspect, or guide practical builds.
Can facilitate strategy sessions without drifting into vague consulting theater. You leave with decisions, priorities, owners, and next steps.
Enjoy client ownership, recurring relationships, and the work of keeping people aligned after the call ends.
Can write concise briefs, summaries, client updates, and internal handoffs that make action obvious.
Work well with technical builders and can give them enough context to build the right thing the first time.
Required Experience
5+ years in client-facing strategy, consulting, operations, technology implementation, account leadership, business transformation, or a similar role.
2+ years working with AI, automation, workflow tools, digital transformation, or technology-enabled operations in business contexts.
Track record leading conversations with business owners, executives, or senior functional leaders.
Experience turning ambiguous business needs into structured plans, roadmaps, process maps, proposals, or implementation briefs.
Comfortable with remote client work and at least six hours of weekday overlap with US Pacific time.
Preferred Experience
Former founder, operator, consultant, fractional leader, agency leader, RevOps leader, implementation lead, or strategic account lead.
Experience with small businesses in the $1M-$25M revenue range.
Experience managing recurring client engagements, or multi-client portfolios.
Familiarity with n8n, Zapier, Make.com, OpenAI, Claude, Google Workspace, ClickUp, HubSpot, Airtable, Jotform, or similar client-stack tools.
Experience creating training, enablement, SOPs, client-facing summaries, or change-management materials.
Internal Success Measures
Client retention and engagement: clients attend sessions, stay active, and understand the value being created.
Initiative throughput: high-value initiatives move from discovery to scoped build to shipped outcome.
Architect readiness: Architects receive clear briefs, access context, acceptance criteria, and business rationale before building.
Time to value: clients see useful progress within days, not weeks.
Delivery reliability: follow-ups, decisions, and next actions are captured and completed on time.
Scope and margin discipline: scope creep is caught early, tier upgrades or project work are surfaced when appropriate, and unpaid work does not quietly expand.
Client satisfaction: clients feel heard, guided, and confident that Ampra is helping them modernize the right parts of the business.
Documentation hygiene: ClickUp and client records are current enough that another team member can understand account status quickly.
Engagement and Compensation Notes
Location: Remote, with US Pacific time overlap required.
Engagement type: Contractor path with potential for full-time, depending on candidate fit and current client portfolio needs.
Compensation model: expected to include meaningful performance or variable compensation tied to active client engagements, retention, delivery health, and client value. Exact structure is finalized by offer type.
Paid assessment: shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a two-hour working session where they lead a test FlexFlow-style conversation, identify opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and brief the Architect role on what should be built.
